Easter is round the corner and we are hoping that we are also on the cusp of better weather. After relentless rain, and big blustery March winds we all got excited today when the sun made a long overdue appearance. Given there are still three days to go until we can tuck into those chocolate eggs we are celebrating the (almost) arrival of good weather with cake!
Work on the farm has been hampered by the incessant wind so many of our maintenance jobs have had too be put on hold – we don’t want to risk flying hammers! The chickens have also been fairly unimpressed with the weather, as they are not keen on having their feathers fluffed up. The longer days are having a positive impact on egg production however, and we are hoping that we will have a glut by the time summer arrives.
In anticipation of our country show season we have been working hard to prepare more wine and getting bottled completed before we hit the road again. Our Fabulously Fruity range keeps getting bigger and better – indeed over the winter we sold out of a few of our classic varieties. Our weekly wine tastings continue. These are held on Saturday’s between 12noon and 4pm every week. For those of you who haven’t been yet come on down and try so you can see for yourself why they are so “fabulously fruity”. The tastings take place on the farm and we are situated within easy reach of Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the outlying villages.
After Easter we will be taking to the road again and attending shows across Lincolnshire and surrounding counties. Keep watching our blog entries for details of our next country fairs and food show dates. In the meantime if you would like to sign up for our mailing list email your details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
